Define the Task with a Clear Instruction

Write a specific, action-oriented instruction that tells the model exactly what task to perform. Use direct verbs like “Classify,” “Summarize,” “Translate,” or “Extract.” Include any constraints on the output format — such as response length, label choices, or structure requirements — directly in the instruction.

Provide the Input Data

Supply the content the model should process. This could be text to classify, a passage to summarize, a sentence to translate, or raw data to analyze. Keep the input clearly separated from the instruction so the model knows where the task description ends and the content begins.

Receive the Model’s Output

The model draws on its pre-trained knowledge to perform the requested task without any demonstration examples. It recognizes the task pattern from training data and applies learned capabilities directly. If the output quality is insufficient, you can refine the instruction, add format constraints, or escalate to few-shot prompting.
