Self-Consistency runs multiple reasoning chains independently and votes on the final answer. But independent chains can’t help each other — if Chain A discovers a crucial insight at step 3, Chains B and C can’t benefit from it. Every chain is on its own, potentially duplicating effort or all missing the same key insight.
EoT adds exchange rounds where agents share intermediate thoughts. After each reasoning phase, agents broadcast their current reasoning state. Others can incorporate useful insights, correct their own errors based on what others found, or explore new directions inspired by shared progress.
Think of it like a research team that meets weekly to share progress: each researcher works independently, but regular check-ins ensure discoveries propagate across the group, dead ends are flagged early, and the collective output is far stronger than isolated work.

Exchange Round
Agents share intermediate thoughts, insights, and partial conclusions with each other. Each agent receives the current state of all other agents’ reasoning. This is the signature step of EoT — the point where isolated insights become shared knowledge.

Informed Continuation
Each agent continues reasoning, now informed by the insights shared by others. Agents incorporate relevant discoveries, adjust their analysis based on new information, and explore directions they wouldn’t have considered alone. This phase produces richer, more interconnected reasoning than any single chain could achieve.
Agent A (updated): “Incorporating Agent C’s tiered storage insight: hot tier with 4 high-throughput partitions for real-time data, warm tier with batch processing for the remaining volume. This reduces partition count while maintaining throughput targets.”

Final Synthesis
Combine the enriched reasoning chains into a final answer. Because each agent has benefited from the others’ insights, the synthesis is far more comprehensive than what independent voting would produce. The final answer reflects cross-pollinated reasoning where each perspective has been refined by the others.
